typical

Why is it that my kids never want any part in taking some decent pictures?

Thanks for the pretty smile, Ev. Don't you just love the way her tongue is so elegantly wrapped around her teeth? On a side note, she laid down on her own. I just ran over to tickle her belly with my foot (oh, and to take a picture)

Sometimes she's sweet to him. This was followed by her holding his hand, walking away very quickly and pulling him down.

Enough is enough! Why are you just standing there with that camera? Get her off of me!

nearly 30

7 web

It seems like just yesterday I was enjoying a snack of coffee mate from the can, and today I turned 28. I thought I'd be 16 forever, and now I've been driving for 12 years. I celebrated my 21st birthday 7 years ago. College kids look like babies to me. I have more wrinkles around my eyes than my pruny kids have on their bodies after spending half an hour in the tub. Time sure does get away from us. I guess I should be concentrating on how young I am compared to how old I will feel when I'm....I can't even say it...40! But that won't happen; that's just so far off. I'll be in my 20s forever. :)

lots to share

We made a trip to Greg's hometown over the weekend. When we got there, we had a little birthday party for Graham. I had no idea what to do with his cake, so I made it to match a very cute little bib my friend Jamie made for him. Only, I'm not Lowe's and can't match colors at all.

I think he's a little sleepy here, but this is a good bib shot.

Ok, I've waited long enough for this cake. Give'r here!

What? Do I have something on my face?

We got a chance to see some family that we haven't seen in a while too. Greg's cousin Heather has two children who are very close in age to Evie and Graham.

If you are into blank stares, you'll love this one:

This picture makes me want to cry, because they just look like such big girls. I remember when we brought them together as little babies, and now they are chasing each other around and screaming.

Evie, would you mind sitting next to Isaac for a picture real quick? Ok, that's perfect. Right there.

We met one year ago tomorrow

Greg took this picture in the heat of the moment...the very very fast moment...so it's a little out of focus but still perfect in every way. It was quite an eventful day; I'd labored for 5 hours with a team of 10 people rushing in with every contraction to try to get the baby's heart rate back up. Maybe it wasn't 10 people; maybe it was 5, but however many it was too many yet not enough. His heartrate was in the 30s and rising just slightly in between contractions. The decision was made to get him out asap, and when they did the cord was wrapped around his neck and abdomen multiple times. I had had a rough day already and was vomiting on myself during the c-section, but it seemed Graham had the worst day of all. Nobody would tell me what was going on, but I did not hear my baby cry as they rushed him to the table in the corner to work on him. Later I found out that the respiratory therapist standing by was only a second away from administering breathing for him when he finally did take a breath. And then I heard the cry everyone had been waiting for. But they were still rushing around as if something was really wrong. They had to get him somewhere to do something or other, and he was still crying and very upset. I kept insisting that they show me our baby, and they put him next to my head. Then I put my hand on his face and pulled it next to mine and said it's ok. I am a big believer that babies know their mommies, because like I said, he had been really crying hard and stopped to a complete silence when I whispered in his ear. Honest.

I had been secretly hoping for another girl, and when they pulled him out the doctor said, "I think I see boy parts." I said, "are you sure?" But as soon as I got to touch him, I was thankful he was a boy. Now when I put him to bed at naptime or at night and he snuggles his head on my shoulder and relaxes his little body, I think I want 10 more baby boys just like him.

Tomorrow he will be one year old. And we're one year happier.

We love MI

I have more to show, but it's late and this is all I have time for right now...maybe more later. These are my favorites anyway.

This was a big step for Evie. Before this vacation she was really afraid of jumping into the pool; she's cautious about anything like that. A good fear to have I think. Now she's jumping in like she was never afraid. Look out, Michael Phelps.

birthday somethings and white trash

Here are just few pictures from Evie's second 3rd birthday party. We had one with Greg's side of the family last weekend, and then another this past weekend with my side since we were down for a "finish the house" party anyway. Here she is blowing out her candles and enjoying some of her Cars cake. Later we put Graham in the trash.
